Michael V. Parras, Jr. is an experienced trial attorney who has represented individuals and businesses – ranging from publicly traded corporations to sole proprietorships – in a wide range of litigation. In particular, Mike represents clients in matters involving breaches of fiduciary duties, shareholder disputes, trade secrets, non-competition agreements, employment disputes, professional liability issues, real estate and construction disputes, and emergency business litigation.

Mike’s experience also includes participation in hearing and trials in state and federal court, mediations, arbitrations, appellate work, and appearances before state and local administrative agencies.

Mike graduated from Brandeis University in 2001 and received his juris doctor from Boston University School of Law in 2004. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and lives in Hopkinton with his wife and two children. Outside of the office, Mike enjoys spending time with family in New Mexico and northern Maine, keeping up with his children’s sporting events, and perusing local bookstores.

    • Secured M.G.L. c. 93A award of multiple damages and attorneys’ fees on behalf of a regional health care facility against contractor hired to make improvements to the facility.
    • Obtained summary judgment on all claims, including fraud and M.G.L. c. 93A, brought by independent contractor against third-party payroll and benefits administrator that contracted with businesses to provide benefits to independent contractors of the businesses. The independent contractor had claimed that he was an employee of the third-party administrator.
    • Negotiated favorable settlement of novel breach of implied warranty of authority claim on behalf of developer against commercial real estate broker who had accepted offer from developer for the purchase of a parcel of land in Boston and who had no authority to accept offer.
    • Successfully prosecuted arbitration action on behalf of national tax preparation firm against a former employee who used confidential information to solicit and engage clients after resigning from the firm. Defended against appeal and petition for further appellate review to the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
    • Represented numerous highly-compensated salespersons in actions against former employers for unpaid commissions.
    • Obtained summary judgment on behalf of seller in breach of fiduciary duties claim against her former real estate broker.
    • Successfully represented condominium buyer in misrepresentation claim against real estate broker related to an upcoming special assessment that was not disclosed to the buyer prior to his purchase of the condominium.
    • Negotiated successful resolution for employee in misclassification case brought against large regional real estate brokerage firm.
    • Represented commercial buyer in litigation against seller who failed to disclose that he had received notice that property may be subject to eminent domain proceedings.
